Angelique Kidjo won her
second Grammy yesterday, Sunday February 8, 2015. She won the award for
her album Eve which has been described as a musical tribute to African
women.
In her acceptance speech she thanked the women of
Africa. “Women of Africa — you rock!. For me, music is a weapon of
peace, and today more than ever, as artists we have a role to play in
the stability of this world" said the singer when accepting her
award. The album Eve is based off the harmonies of women's choirs
recorded by the Angelique Kidjo. Angelique Kidjo, who is 57-years old,
won her first Grammy in 2007 for her album Djin Djin. This second win is
undoubtly amazing news for the Beninese singer.
